How Long Does It Take to Install a Fence?

Monday, July 27, 2020

Does your American dream include the iconic white picket fence around your own home? Maybe you want some privacy for your family's get-togethers, or you just got a new puppy that needs to be contained. Or, maybe you know that a fence adds a layer of security around your house and even increases your home's value.

Whatever your reason for looking into getting a fence, you'll likely have a few questions. How long does it take to install a fence? How much will it cost? Can you install it for me?

This post will focus on the time involved for a fence installation. Keep reading for more details!

How Long Does It Take to Install a Fence?

A common complaint from customers getting new fences is that the estimate may not take long to get, but then the wait for the actual fence builders is very long. With our 45 years of experience in the industry, we know that prompt work produces happy customers.

So, after our free estimate, we will get to work right away. Most fences will be finished within a week. It typically takes us a day to prepare for the installation (setting posts in concrete) and then the rest goes fairly quickly.

There are several factors that may affect the exact time it takes to complete:

  • The size of the fence and yard
  • The terrain of the property
  • The type of fence
  • The number of gates
  • The weather
  • Neighbor's pets
  • Underground utilities
  • Other environmental factors

Even with these factors, you can expect the whole process to take a week or less from when you hire us, with the actual construction time being a few days.

If for some reason you decide to install a fence on your own, you can be certain it will take more time and effort if you're not familiar with the process.

Speaking of "us," we do not subcontract any of the work. When you buy a fence and installation from us, it will actually be our staff who install your fence.

What Steps Are Involved?

After you make the call to install a new fence, an estimator will come to your property to assess the cost. He or she will look at the environment and determine what will be necessary to complete the project.

If the estimator doesn't give you a contract on that first visit, they will mail it to you.

This is the point that can take a long time: waiting for the actual construction. However, we are committed to beginning (finishing) the construction process in a timely manner!
